Hi, Mookie, a few months ago, I helped to build a small aquaponic system from re- used materials with a a group of people at the university I graduated from. The system is up and running now, and since the veggies seem to be doing great, we're moving onto the next stage, which is to introduce some new species into the fish tank for culture (at the moment, the whole thing is running on goldfish.) My job now is to research some of the species in question. I was wondering what your experience has been with the mussels in your system. Is their role primarily to provide additional filtration? Do they have any habitat requirements, predators, etc? How are they interacting, if at all, with the other species? Also, if you could provide the URLs of any websites that are particularly useful to small- scale operations, I'd be really grateful. Thanks, and keep up the great work!
