Aquaponics: The simultaneous propagation of aquatic species and plants in a closed loop system.

After a year of planning, designing, iterating, and researching aquaponics systems all around the world,  tomorrow begins the long journey to Kenya.

During the month of July, a small team of local craftsmen, farmers, students, and volunteers will be constructing a completely solar powered aquaponics farm on Mfangano Island. We aim to use locally available materials, local construction techniques, and native plant and fish species to create a system that can be studied, replicated, and innovated by local farmers and fishermen.
